CSR

Sustainable and responsible Sustainable and responsible

In terms of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), we at Janssen-Fritsen are continuing to grow and learn. We can demonstrate this with an ISO 1400-1 certificate and CSR certification performance ladder level 3.

A few examples of CSR at Janssen-Fritsen:
  • We require our suppliers to have a 'no child labour' certificate.
  • We support the Sports for Children Foundation by giving equipment a second life (reuse).
  • We are working to reduce energy, paper and water consumption.
  • We use FSC® and PEFC-certified wood.
  • Our products have a very long lifespan.
  • We choose cleaner company vehicles, zero-emission transport and a reduction in the number of miles travelled.
  • We provide safe workplaces.
  • Our mechanics have a VCA* diploma (for working safely).

Product safety Product safety

Both children and elite athletes must be able to rely on our gymnastics equipment with their eyes closed. This is why they meet the highest safety requirements. All products are extensively tested and vetted by our own experts. And externally, among others, by the inspection body TĂśV and by the international gymnastics federation (FIG). We also offer aftercare in the form of maintenance contracts.

Sustainable procurement and production

The wood in our products is sustainably sourced. Products bearing the FSC® or PEFC logo can be supplied as FSC® or PEFC-certified upon request.
In addition to using sustainable wood, our paper, cardboard, mats and our coating are also purchased based on their good environmental properties. In addition, we prevent harm to the environment by designing and manufacturing equipment with a long lifespan. Because we can re-supply parts for at least 20 years, older equipment will stay operational for longer. We prevent equipment from having to be replaced prematurely and ending up in landfills. We have practical examples of equipment that has lasted for over 30 years!

Circularity

Circularity is part of our production process. As regards circular products, we are the absolute leader in the market. All devices and parts are easy to disassemble and reuse. We also teamed up with the municipality of Wageningen to create the first circular sports hall in the Netherlands in 2018. We developed a number of circular devices for this. A great example is our circular vaulting box. This is made from Rubberwood. This cradle-to-cradle certified wood fully meets the circularity requirements. We are giving this wood a new life.

Our surroundings Our surroundings

Janssen-Fritsen is investing heavily to reduce its energy consumption and CO2 emissions. We also specifically choose company vehicles that meet the highest environmental requirements, opt for zero-emission transport and are actively working on reducing the number of kilometres driven. Sports for Children Sports for Children

Children in countries with lower levels of wealth, such as Eastern Europe and Africa, also need exercise through sports and games. Unfortunately, they often do not have the right resources. The Sports for Children Foundation is committed to changing that.

Used sports equipment will get a second life

Janssen-Fritsen is supporting this great initiative. For example, we collect used sports equipment. If necessary, these are refurbished by Sports for Children. For example, they might turn three broken jumper boxes into one good one again.

Sports for Children also ensures that the refurbished equipment ends up in the right place. This might be foreign sports clubs or schools that do not have enough money to buy such items.

Success story

Sports for Children was founded in late 2011. Since then, they have reached over 200,000 children in 20 countries. This required: 120 transports, 400 schools and 5,000 m3 of equipment.
