Gymnasts united in Helsinki

16 September 2015

The World Gymnaestrada is a world-wide, non-competitive FIG Gymnastics event held every 4 years and attracting the largest number of active participants of any FIG event. Participation is for everybody, regardless of gender, age, race, religion, culture, ability or social standing.

The 15th World Gymnaestrada was organized in Helsinki, Finland. This was the first time that Finland hosted the event, and 21 000 participants from 53 different countries joined together to enjoy over 200 hours of gymnastics!

The Messukeskus Expo and Convention Centre, where we were also present with our Just For kids products, provided 9 arenas with over 50 hours of gymnastics Group Performances. The three City Stages also offered a lot to see! There were National Evening performances by Switzerland, Portugal & Brazil, Nordic Countries, Pan-American Continental and Japan! And free gymnastics workshops for citizens, tourists and participants in Helsinki.

For one week, the Gymnastics spectacle animated the Finnish capital and united gymnasts from 53 countries at the biggest Gymnastics festival there is. The event was in the making for years. Both for the local organising committee and participants, most of whom began preparing their performances in 2013 or 2014.

The World Gymnaestrada 2015 Helsinki was a great success with one of the highlights the FIG Gala. In 2019 the World Gymnaestrada will be held in Dornbirn Austria. Before that, check out the best moments of the FIG Gala at the 15th World Gymnaestrada Helsinki!
